2009 Hoyleton Awards and Recognition Banquet, Our Lady of the Snows, Belleville

The Mission Partner Award was given to St. Jacob UCC and St. John UCC of Summerfield. The two churches have worked together to provide food, clothing and Christmas presents for many of the children and families served by the Hoyleton ministries.

The Corporate Partner in Volunteerism Award was presented to the Latino Employee Network of Wells Fargo Advisors. The group has been very active in raising funding and awareness of our Puentes de Esperanza ministry.

The Youth in Action award was presented to the Construction and Manufacturing Technology teachers and students of Coulterville and Steeleville High Schools. The group completed a large construction project at Hoyleton's CILA in the spring.

The Community Service Award was presented to Newsong Fellowship Church of Edwardsville, and to congregation member Shawn McBride, who was unable to attend. The group has hosted events and completed construction projects, among other activities, for the Hoyleton ministries.
Rev. Carol Shanks, Mrs. Norma Kramer, Mrs. Judy Dietz, and Col. Bill Whicher were recognized for their outstanding service to Hoyleton. Each has served for 9 years as a member of our Board of Directors.
The Director of the Year award was presented to Rev. Mike Southcombe, the Board Chairperson of the Hoyleton Children's Home Foundation. Mike is very active with the Hoyleton ministries - in the past year, he has led spiritual retreats for staff, worked to raise funds and awareness, and has hosted the Awards Banquet for the past several years.
Mrs. Beth Otten was voted Employee of the Year by her peers at the Hoyleton ministries. As the Director of Clinical Services at the Hoyleton Children's Home, she provides a wealth of information and advice to staff and clients.
The Diedre Buchanan "Spirit of Love" Award was given to Ms. Romanic Wright, who was unable to attend the event. Her award was accepted by Foster Care Case Manager Lacquita Nixon.
The Volunteer of the Year award was presented to Ms. Kristi Knapp, along with her daughters, Adrienne and Madeline. They have spent countless hours volunteering for our Puentes de Esperanza ministry.
The Spirit award was presented to Karen Jalbers and the children of the "Hands for Hoyleton" mission group from St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church in O'fallon. The group has spent considerable time working for and with the clients of the Hoyleton Children's Home.
The Partner in Advocacy award was given to Sen. David Luechtefeld for his efforts to provide a steady, reliable funding stream from the State of Illinois to the Hoyleton ministries.
Glenn and Jo Poshard were given a plaque to celebrate the relationship between the Poshard Foundation and Hoyleton Youth and Family Services. Glenn was the evening's guest speaker, and based his talk from "The Giving Tree," a children's book by Shel Silverstein.
The Sustaining Partner award was presented to the Norman J. Stupp Foundation. Accepting the award was Jim Collins, Vice President of Commerce Bank.
