TYPES OF DATING ABUSE

Abuse in a dating relationship does not just mean physical abuse. There are many ways one partner can attempt to control another in a dating relationship.

Types of abuse can include:

Physical Abuse – hitting, slapping, pushing, kicking, biting, hair pulling, etc.

Verbal, Emotional, Mental, Psychological Abuse – name calling, put downs, public embarrassment, mind games.

Sexual Abuse – any unwanted sexual contact.

Social Abuse or Isolation – refusing to allow a person to be with friends, checking up on a person constantly, telling someone where and when they can go.

Financial Abuse – taking a partner’s money.

Cyber Abuse – posting or texting inappropriate comments or photos of a partner.
