The mission of Puentes de Esperanza is to enhance the quality of life of the Latino Community in Southern Illinois, through partnership in a community-based ministry directed at social, health, and spiritual needs.

Puentes Staff members serve the Hispanic Community through the following programs:

Community Supportive Services - Provides outreach and assistance to the Latino community, serving as a much-needed bridge between needs and available resources. We provide information; referrals; transportation and other assistance; translation and  interpretation; and advocacy.

Puentes para la paz - (Bridges to Peace) - A partnership with the Violence Prevention Center of Southwestern Illinois,  providing services to victims of Domestic Violence.

Iniciativa de Salud para Mujeres - (Women’s Health Initiative) - Funded by the Susan G. Komen for the Cure - St. Louis Affiliate, this program seeks to increase Breast Cancer awareness and ensure screening services are available to all area Latinas.

Latino Special Services - Area Latino families often find themselves in troubled situations due to language barriers and cultural differences. Provides assistance in situations involving the IL Dept of Children and Family Services, often alleviating potential crisis situations before they escalate.

Familia Mejorando (Families Improving) Enhances the services provided through our LSS program by offering bi-lingual    parenting education to LSS and other     Hispanic clients as identified/referred through our outreach efforts. Funded by your contributions to the IL Child Abuse Prevention Fund.

Immigrant Family Resource Program: Conducted in conjunction with the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights and the IL Dept of Human Services, this program seeks to reduce the barriers that low-income immigrants and their children face when seeking public benefits and services.

Teen Pregnancy Prevention - This program seeks to lower teen pregnancy and birth rates among young Latinas through sexuality Education, youth activities, and parental involvement.
